NFL Survivor Pool: Week 2
We are now on to week 2 of the NFL season, and week 1 threw some curveballs to us. The 3 picks I gave out last week all won, so if you used them, then you are still alive in your survivor league. A few of us Chunker’s whiffed on our survivor picks, but most went the “conservative,” route with Baltimore and moved on to week 2. If you want to check it out the link is as follows, http://survivor.fantasy.nfl.com/group/55252 and we have 10/15 still left in the running to make it through all 17 weeks.
- What if I lost? Can I still participate?
The answer to this would be yes. You can still participate and make picks, but you will not be a winner of the survivor league.
- Who should I pick this week?
New Orleans Saints
The New Orleans Saints host the Cleveland Browns this week, and the Browns broke their losing streak last week. Not with a win over the Steelers, but a tie. Nonetheless, they did not lose. I do expect them the Saints to control the game this week and win it handily back at home in the dome. The Saints were upset last week when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers put up 48 points last Sunday, and while the Browns have some solid offensive weapons I do not think that they Browns offense will be able to score as often as the Saints will this week.
Many who are not picking the Saints this week will flock to the defending Super Bowl champions. And I must say it is not a bad pick, the teams from Philadelphia tend to draw very strong crowds here in Tampa. There is a little cut of Tampa and they refer to themselves as Tampadelphia. So I expect Raymond James to be nearly 50/50 in favor of the Super Bowl Champs. The reason I am choosing to put the Eagles here is their defense. Their defense is still really, really good. I expect Darby to shadow Mike Evans, and while it did not “work,” against Julio Jones it slowed him down enough to where Jones was not able to win the Falcons the game single handedly. I expect the same to happen here in this game, Darby slows Evans down enough to where that the Bucs will not be able to target Evans 15-16 times this game without paying for it.
Los Angeles Chargers
The Los Angeles Chargers will be without Joey Bosa again this week, but they play the Buffalo Bills. I picked on the Bills last week with my Ravens pick, and I am going back to the well again here. I think the defense will do enough to force rookie QB Josh Allen in to a few mistakes. The Chargers defense is beat up, but still solid and should win the game themselves. If not, the offense is more than capable of picking up some slack. Rivers has many weapons, including old man Antonio Gates who is always a threat in the red zone. I look for Gates to score this week, and Melvin Gordon to continue to score fantasy points with catches out of the backfield.
